4.3 – Brasilia metropolitan area

The Metropolis Statute (Law 13.089/2015) defines the metropolitan area as the “representation of the continuous expansion of the urban grid of the metropolis, joined by the integration of the road system, including, especially, housing, services and industrial areas with the presence of commuter traffic in the territory”. The Brasilia Metropolitan Area – AMB was defined by Codeplan in Technical Report 01/2014. The AMB is formed by the Federal District and its surrounding area, constituted by 12 surrounding municipalities (also members of Ride-Federal District) that have flow and relations with the Federal District of a metropolitan nature.
