8.6 – Brasilia, host city for large events

The choice of Brazil as the host country for the 2014 World Cup was a great milestone to reaffirm Brasilia’s vocation as a host city for large sporting, cultural and business events. Since that time, about 60 large international events have been scheduled, to be held between 2014 and 2019.

In relation to the tourism business, Brasilia held 3rd place and had an increase of 63% in international events in 2016, according to the International Congress and Convention Association – ICCA in 2015. Brasilia offers a diverse cultural and innovation program agenda. International, national and local events, held in the Plano Piloto and the other Administrative Regions, stimulate the city and provide the tone of the importance given to cultural diversity, exchange and internationalization.
